Meet Dr. Oliver
Dr. Allison N. Oliver is a proud native of Mississippi with a deep passion for education and advocacy. With over two decades of experience in the field of special education, she holds a Ph.D. in Special Education and has dedicated her career to ensuring equitable access to education for all students.
As a mother of two children, Reaghan and Collin, Dr. Oliver understands the importance of inclusive education and the impact it has on the lives of children with diverse abilities. Her personal experiences as a parent have further fueled her commitment to advocacy and serving as a voice for those who face barriers in accessing quality education.
Driven by her passion, Dr. Oliver founded Lessons Beyond the Eligibility, an organization focused on equipping schools, organizations, and stakeholders with the information they need to go beyond the limitations often associated with eligibility or specific characteristics of a disability. Her goal is to empower individuals and institutions to create inclusive and equitable educational environments that support the diverse needs of all learners.
Dr. Oliver thoroughly enjoys presenting to diverse audiences, sharing her expertise, and fostering dialogue on the importance of equity in education. She takes pride in her ability to create safe and inclusive spaces where all voices are valued and respected.
Currently, Dr. Oliver serves as an Assistant Professor at Austin Peay State University, where she continues to shape the future of special education through her teaching, research, authorship, and mentorship. In addition, Dr. is an active board member of the Tennessee Unit of the Council for Exceptional Children, NAACP, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. furthering her commitment to advocating for the rights and needs of all individuals.
